If there is one thing that gets old over time is planning your work wear every single day. It can feel challenging and honestly who really has the time every morning to rifle through clothes trying to figure out what work outfit to wear without sacrificing on style? If you work in an office, you know what I mean. When trying to find appropriate work wear I’m always looking for something comfortable and stylish.Like everybody else you always want to find an outfit that represents your style without having to really fuss on what to wear. I have come up with 6 basics for your wardrobe that can give you several outfits to constantly rotate, reinvent and still have your work wear feel timeless, fresh and ideal for the workplace. When establishing your work wear, find basics that ultimately help you narrow down your entire wardrobe to outfits that you can easily mix and match.

Your Work Wear Needs

A jacket

A jacket is a versatile piece to your work wear and you can layer it with multiple outfits. Find a jacket that is more like a robe or a trench coat but not very heavy. A jacket like this will give a perfect drape over your outfits and you’ll be able to wear this jacket with any look.Outfit Option; Wear a shell blouse, black pencil skirt and pumps or black pants, shell blouse and loafers-- throw over your jacket. Utilize a coat in any bright color.

Tops

When it comes to your work tops, I recommend you should have a good, crisp white button- down shirt. This is a classic and guarantees to go with everything. Also, shirts and tank tops that have different textures. Your collection should consist of stripped button downs shirts, silk tops, tank tops and shell blouses in both long sleeves and short sleeves. You only need one of each which will now serve as the basics to your rotation.Outfit option; Wear your white shirt, dark blue denim with pumps/loafers or wear a blouse or stripped shirt with a pencil skirt and mules.

Skirt

Depending on your style, when buying skirts choose either an A-line skirt or a pencil skirt that is mid-length as this works well for the office. For a more polished look, if your skirt is longer, tuck your shirt into the skirt. Always have a neutral skirt and get more creative by buying skirts that are colorful or have pattern versions on hand.Outfit option; Wear your checked pencil skirt, white shirt and pumps and drape your jacket on top.

The Trench that doubles as a dress

This to me is undeniably the perfect versatile work wear item. You can wear as a jacket or interchangeably as a dress. The perfect jacket dress should not be too heavy, finding one that comes in silk is a good option. You need it to be breathable and should also have a belt, giving it the illusion of a dress, to wear with pumps or mules.

Pants

I think you only need two pair of pants. A dark blue denim for casual Fridays and a black straight leg pant that you can now mix with all your tops to create different looks.Outfit option; wear your black pant with any top with your loafers and throw on the jacket. For a classic Friday look wear your white buttoned-down shirt with denim jeans, tuck your shirt and throw on your jacket. For shoes wear either a mule a loafer or the pumps.

Shoes

When it comes to shoes for work wear you only need 3 types; a black pump, loafers and a mule. These types are versatile enough to go with all your work wear outfit options.Creating a work wear is easy if you have the basics. If you have all the above or a couple of these fashion tips, your mornings are about to get easier and your work wear will always look fresh.Let me know if this post helped you.
